So who knows what this blog is about or what it's for. I have become obsessed with the website pinterest.com that links you to blogs of masterminds of every trick and trade. There are so many crafty people who think of things like watermelon sharks, cookie bowls for ice cream, and umbrella wreaths. Maybe if I post my attempts at recreating their culinary genius, I can be inspired to make something....maybe :) Since I aspire to be Martha Stewart, Julia Child, Joan Quinn, and Robin Guynn - I gotta lotta work to do!
Basically my favorite thing ever is checking my sister-in-law's blogs and seeing how my nephew is doing or see if by some MIRACLE Lauren has updated her blog since last September ;) So maybe this blog will make somebody else's day - maybe yours?!?!! Clearly my charm and wit is impossible to resist because you've stuck around to this second paragraph. Hehehe
Right now I'm out at the Y for spring semester. I'm living with my brother Steve in our family's apartment - it's a blast! I clean, and Steve cooks. Unfortunately my cooking has rarely ventured outside of turkey sandwiches. I did make steak last week though.... progress :) I'm the designated third wheel on most of his and Jenni's dates - I love it! I hope they do too!? It's been great having them both as partner's in crime this term. This is us at the REAL game this past weekend - don't we 3 make a cute couple?!
But anyways, since I've committed to experimenting with crafty things....here goes. I wanted to do something for memorial day because my Grandma and Grandpa Q had all the cousins up for dutch oven dinner! I've been taking a cake decorating class this past month, so I decided to test out ma' skillz on a red, white, and blue cake. What's the secret to a perfectly frosted cake you ask? A spinny plate!
Voila! Or as Julia would say, Bon Appetit!

After this cake class, I have realized how impossible it can be to find a good frosting recipe. If you're in to the whole "everything made from scratch" thing.... Well friends, look no further because I found it. Blend 3 cups powdered sugar and 1 cup butter. Add 1 T whipping cream and 2 tsp vanilla (or rootbeer extract if you're adventurous). Stir in milk with a rubber spatula for a thinner consistency. You're welcome! :)

You are too cute!
